User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Works, but it’s small
Ours came up fine with normal watering and care (like any plant) but the container here is very small. Like maybe 2 pints. That alone makes this product expensive for the average user.

1 Star Deceptive advertising – vastly overstated claims!
I purchased three bags of Patch-Perfect seed to apply to two bare spots in my yard – one in the sun, the other in the shade. After three weeks of normal watering, there has been approximately 10% seed growth in the shady area, and 0% growth in the sunny area. I am very displeased with this costly, ineffective product and will never make a subsequent purchase.

1 Star inutile!
i give this product a minus ten!!! after 5 hours of very hard work:

1 tilling

2. watering

do not be a sucker like me !!! Oh wait maybe they want us to first grow it on concrete before trying it on soil. If that doesn’t work we can try the grass growing dance. But seriously, I recommend buying sod and cutting it into the shape you need.

1 Star oh goodness
THANK YOU THANK YOU! I thought this was the cure. My neighbor purchased two summers ago and it worked like magic on his back yard. So I was just getting ready to purchase it now for my backyard for a “fix” but after reading all of your reviews- I am FOR SURE going to get sod instead. So Thanks to all of you for your honest reviews!! I think you saved me a big Headache!! PEACE!

1 Star Avoid this terrible product
I bought these seeds and watered them faithfully. Nothing came up. I ended up paying about $100 including shipping.

I would warn buyers to avoid this product. It is a total rip-off.

3 Stars hate it and love it
this product is good but i had to do some research and experiment to get it to work. i bought three one for tomatos one for cucumbers and one for hot peppers. topsy turvy reccomends potting soil don’t do it if you want a light weight and better alternative use soilless soil it retains water better than the potting soil it’s more expensive but worth it and can be found at most gardening centers and when you hang your plant it will be much lighter. with the potting soil it seemed to attract mosquitos when i switched to soilless soil the problem went away. the plant needs lots of water so like other reviewers i used a milk container which i refill twice a day now that its warming up. when its hot water water water!!! the plant uses more water when its hot than it does at night. if you get more than 6 hours of direct sunlight water the plant at least three times a day and after eight hours provide some shade for the plant which helps it retain more water by decreasing the amount of energy it uses. the plant uses water+sunlight to photosynthesize so keep it watered and you will get lots of healthy plants. if the plants do not get enough water it will slow growth to preserve water. to keep the soil from getting too hot i used mulch to keep the plants from overheating do it at night when its cooler so the soil can keep a lower temperature. when flowers start blooming cut them off energy is required to keep the flowers blooming removing them will give you more tomatos.

5 Stars Seems to Work Very Well
I was a bit dubious about this product, but it’s proven itself so far to be effective. The two plants I have growing in the Topsy Turvy are thriving — they’re doing much better than the plants I have in the ground. I’ll be anxious to see what kind of yield I get, but so far I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

4 Stars Topsy-Turvey Upside-Down Hanging Tomato Planter
This Upside Down Tomato Planter works great for those of us who live in an apartment or with no place to plant a garden. It was fairly easy to plant and it now hangs under my porch. Make sure you plant a tomato that is good for container gardening and one that has good roots. I am anxious for the plants to blossom and produce fruit.

4 Stars So far, good results.
I bought this item in April and so far, the plants are doing really well. The instructions were not in the box but I called and they emailed them to me immediately.

1 Star Big Disappointment!
We purchased the Topsy Turvy in an effort to save space in our herb and vegetable garden since the tomato cages take up so much space. The soil ‘bag’ was very heavy, so we staked anchoring cords to hold up the double shepherd’s hooks – no big deal. The instructions said that you could plant two tomato plants per bag, so we did. And we selected a medium variety of tomato so that it wouldn’t get too heavy for the upside down set-up. But, after two months, with daily watering, the tomato plants have barely grown, and have only yielded 7 small tomatoes total – between the two plants! And, it looks like that will be all we’ll get from both plants. We used great vegetable potting soil, so I don’t think it’s that. Rather, I suspect that the foam rubber ‘ring’ that holds the dirt in at the base is in effect cutting off the plant from growing and thriving. Next year, we’re going back to the cages and setting up a separate garden for tomatoes and peppers. Hope this helps anyone else. I don’t know how others get the good results, if they do.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars amazing
MY HUSBAND FOUND THIS TO BE SO AMAZING HE HAD ME ORDER ONE FOR MY NEIGHBOR.HE RARING LIKES GAGETS I ORDER BUT THE PRO GRILL DADDY ROCKS.

1 Star Piece of Junk
DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

I should’ve known better than be seduced by an infomercial, but its been a while since I let myself be taken, so I guess I was due. This is nothing more than a cheap, plastic handle connected to a standard steel grill brush, with about 3 holes in the head so water can drip out. The plug for the water hole doesn’t fit, and the seams on the plastic look like they could spring a leak any second. The website says “safe for all grills” but my manufacturer specifically says NOT to use steel brushes on my grill. I followed the instructions and preheated my grill. This didn’t work any better than a regular brush. Plus, I paid $19.95 for shipping! (My own, fault, I know). For a product advertised at $14.95. Plus, when you order off the web page, the default is to the higher-priced, “deluxe” version & I had to go back & start over when I realized it. Someday, someone may come up with a quick, easy way to clear a grill, but this is NOT it. Save your money. (I had to give it one star or my review would not be accepted. Amazon needs to allow for giving something NO stars…..)

4 Stars Great, if you know the trick to using it.
I am knocking off one star simply because there is a design flaw, but it is easily overcome.

When you close tight the fill cap, there is no where for air to enter the handle to allow the water to flow out.

If you remove the cap, it works great, tho I may simply drill a small air hole into the handle somewhere. I am afraid of just loosening it as it may fall into the hot grill during use.

It is better than spashing water with a cup because it releases a small amount of water at the exact moment of the brush’s contact with the grill. You may get similar effect by dipping a SS brush into water each and every stroke, but that sounds like a lot of work as well.

I simply clean the grill while it is still hot just after cooking and even between batches if I see a need. It only take a few seconds and is much easier than turning it on later just to clean it or leaving all that gunk on there until you next want to grill something (and then waiting for it to re-heat again). The added bonus is that it cools down the grill that much faster so I can put the top on again that much sooner.

I have tried many different methods and before this, I had settled on one of those grill cleaning bricks (which, in turn, I had to clean every month or so with a SS scrubber and soapy hot water)

One reviewer of the pro suggested it melted onto the grill. Since SS does not melt, I suspect he was pushing so hard the grill bars went past the bristles and touched the base. There is no need to push that hard at all. Either that or he cleans it with the high flames still on and they reach the plastic. Turn down/off the flames just before using it.

I like that the removeable brush is held into place with a wingnut because other removable heads I have had, had problems with the brush slideing out of the handle while I was using it.

The pro gets better reviews and may be a better design, but this was an impulse buy for me at BBB with one of their 20% off coupons.

Grill Daddy GD12952S Grill Daddy Pro Grill Brush

But then again, the Pro seems like a two handed device, while this only requires one handed use, which I think I prefer.

5 Stars grill daddy
great product and great service. Could not have been easier to order and the item arrived on time

1 Star Worst product I have ever purchased
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT

This is a piece of garbage. I would have been better off buying a cup, and a brush head. I do not know where this company gets off charging this amount of money for this piece of garbage. This product is not fit to sell. It is an embarrasment to the intelligence of the american consumer.

Bug Vacuum

Bug Vacuum

Even if you liked childhood tales about spiders and bugs, it’s a different story when they get inside your house. This bug vacuum will trap, zap and dispose of insects without having to touch them. Unit sits in charging base, ready to use at any time. Unit can reach spiders in hard-to-reach corners. Just aim and suck up the little critters, then throw them into trash. 14in.L x 6 1/2in.W x 6 3/4in.H. Includes power cord with adapter and charging base.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Excellent!
This vacuum is now one of my favorite possessions. It sucks up everything from little spiders to cockroaches (shudder). With some of the bigger bugs, I recommend leaving the vacuum on and holding it vertically with the nozzle pointing up until you smell the bug sizzle. That way it will definitely be dead when you go to throw it away.

2 Stars I’m just disappointed
I bought this Bug Vac because my friend told me she uses one. What a bust. I was a little skeptical because of some of the more negative reviews, but I figured it might be worth it to have something help me catch the roaches (I live in Texas). The vac works but ONLY on hard, flat, smooth surfaces and ONLY with smaller bugs. It will not suck up the giant tree roaches we sometimes get. So, mine sits in its charger most of the time.

4 Stars Great Bug Killer
I always had to drag out the vacuum to get spiders off the ceiling. Now I just grab this bug sucker – it is quicker and quieter.

The only problems are the vacuum isn’t as hi-powered as a real vacuum and the end doesn’t mush right into a corner to get at a bug. However, I am really pleased I bought this.

1 Star Poorly designed and does not work. Stay away
I bought this to replace our Insectaside vacuum, which died after 4 years of loyal service. Big mistake: this Lentek bug vacuum simply does not work! It does not have enough suction to get the bugs off the carpet. A waste of $40. Stay away.

5 Stars Works great!
I bought this to replace one that ran on 9V batteries as I was getting tired buying batteries. It works as well as that one and better. I like the extra large opening so I can catch large spiders and mosquitoes. The old one I had didn’t have a large enough opening to fit over very large bugs. I also like how it kills them. In response to the reviews about stink bugs, it does catch those too, I’m already seeing some in the house. It may not kill them, but do some research, NOTHING kills stink bugs. I along with many others have tried everything. Drowning is the only thing that kills them. So when I catch those I flush them. But it still catches them so I don’t have to come in contact with them. And it does catch and kill everything else. I live very close to the woods so we get everything here, stink bugs, mosquitoes, large spiders and earwigs, and it catches and kills them all. And best of all I don’t have to keep buying batteries.

Felknor Ventures 82506 Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter

Topsy-Turvy Planter makes it easy to grow tomatoes and vegetables because it eliminates the need for a backyard garden plot, stakes or cages, weeding, soil prep, hole digging, cut worms and in-ground insects! Saves your back and knees too! Hang it from a hook on a deck or balcony and you’ll work standing up. Water and fertilize through the built-in top funnel; trim… More and harvest at chest height! Also for cukes, peppers, flowers. Just add your soil and plants. FLOWERS thrive in TOPSY TURVY, too! And talk about an interesting way to grow them! Flowers grown in TOPSY will “curl” upward seeking the sun, creating gorgeous “upside down umbrella-like sprays” of flowers. Flowers grown this way look “interestingly different” (almost like a new variety of plant).

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Not as good as I had hoped
I bought 2 to see how well it worked. I’m about halfway into the tomato season and the plants in the Topsy Turvy are about a 1/3 the size of the tomato plants that were planted in the ground. All the plants were from the same batch, planted the same day, and in the same location. It seems to dry out very quickly. Next year I’ll try some different types of plants and see if I get better results.

3 Stars Not as easy as they make it look
I was disappointed in this product. I would not buy it again. I had a hard time getting the tomato plant into one of my Topsy Turvy and one actually died. Take into consideration you have to hang it on a very sturdy support since it is very heavy. I have it just low enough so I can water it but it is growing pretty far down. Seems just about the height of a deer! Hmm not a good idea.

1 Star AWFUL Product
I planted mine 3 noths ago, water every day, fertilize and take care of it, have not got one tomato, But all the ones I planted in the ground are doing wonderful. If you can get tomato’s from the ground dont buy this. If it aint broke then dont fix it.

2 Stars Not as advertised.
I received this as a gift, and I was excited after seeing the ad on t.v. However it has been several months now and I’ve only had four tomatoes, two of which only grew to about peanut size and died. I am careful not to over water it or under water it, but I still end up with a bunch of dead leaves and half formed tomatoes. Most of the the flowers don’t even open up, they just die. I find this funny because we have a cherry tomato plant in the back yard that we got at around the same time, and now we have a cherry tomato jungle in the the back yard. Every day I’m out there picking tomatoes off of the thriving cherry tomato plant and every day I look at my tomato-less tomato plant thinking “why do I even bother?”

1 Star Just a gimmick, useless for the garden.
As has been mentioned by many others, this product is a waste of money. The collar will cut through the stems of plants, result…dead plants.

The sun will heat up the soil in the bag, result….dead plants.

The plants will become root bound (if they survive) in the small bag, result…no tomatoes.

There is no way to keep this thing properly watered.

I tried them for 2 summers for tomatoes, the few tomatoes that survived had Blossom End Rot (BER), and production was lousy.

I gave mine away on Freecycle, and purchased some Earthboxes. MUCH better!!
