This is the last peeler you’ll ever buy! From Kyocera, it’s three peelers in one: use it vertically, horizontally or at a 45-degree angle. The blade is made from advanced ceramic. It stays sharp 10 times longer than steel blades, won’t ever rust or corrode, won’t turn foods brown and won’t transfer a metallic taste or smell. The non-slip grip handle is engineered for every person; it fits large, small, left- or right-handed persons. Dishwasher-safe.

1 Star does not work well
The blade is not securely attached to the handle. On irregular surfaces the blade pops off. It’s fine on something smooth, if you don’t use much force. Not so good for potatoes.

1 Star Piece of junk
It looks cool right? As a piece of art its great. In real time the housing that holds the blade is VERY thin plastic and broke the fourth time I used it.

5 Stars Beautiful Blade
I love this peeler. I also have the six inch size knife as well as the three inch paring knife. Once you get one of the ceramic blades, you’ll want more of them too. These are very nicely made, so sharp, so wonderful to use in a raw vegan kitchen. Thanks so much for the great deal.

2 Stars Great peeler with fatal flaw
We’ve had one of these peelers for over a year, and it’s the best peeler we’ve ever owned.

EXCEPT…

The two little black plastic pins that hold the blade into the handle are the Achilles heel of this product. One is smaller than the other and it recently broke. I’ve heard this same problem from other owners of this product.

I’m waiting for a response from Kyocera as to whether this is covered under their 5 year warranty. But frankly, something like this shouldn’t be happening, and it’s a serious design flaw on an otherwise outstanding product.

Update to the previous review. I finally (things were kind of busy for them the Monday after Thanksgiving!) got a call back from Kyocera, they took my name and address, and immediately sent me a replacement for the broken part. The replacement arrived today, UPS 2 day delivery! I was very impressed with the speed and responsiveness of their customer service. It definitely makes a difference in whether I deal with a company in the future.

Based on this, I’d like to change my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars, but it doesn’t seem to want to let me do that.

4 Stars Great Example of Ceramic Superiority
The benefits to this peeler over a standard peeler are two-fold: superior blade and ergonomic design.

Pros:

Adjustable head angle — this is great for doing large projects and switching between hands.

Ergonomic design — in addition to the adjustable head, the soft grip and thumb-crook at the neck make this peeler easy on the hands

Ceramic blade — I have always been a fan of ceramic blades (despite their purported fragility). This one does not disappoint and I have yet to break it.

Cons:

No potato eye remover

Dialing action of the adjustable head feels as thought it *may* wear down. It hasn’t, and I haven’t heard anyone else complain of this, I’m just sayin.

Red is the only color available. It doesn’t clash with my kitchen, but I could see some people being disappointed in this
